How do you perform a Single Arm Overhead Squat?

  • Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and hold a dumbbell, kettlebell, or other weight overhead with your arm straight.
  • Bend your knees and lower your hips as if you were sitting down.
  • Go as deep as possible without arching your back or lifting your heels off the floor.
  • Push up with your heels and straighten your legs while holding the weight overhead.
  • Inhale as you go down and exhale as you come up.
  • Keep your abs and glutes engaged throughout the movement.

Common faults

  • Bent-forward posture.
  • Knees tuck in during the movement.
  • Insufficient flexibility to keep weight overhead.
