How do you perform Squat Clean?

  • Place your feet about shoulder-width apart, with your toes pointing slightly outward.
  • Place two weights on the floor between your feet.
  • Bend forward slightly and tuck your hips and knees to grab both weights.
  • Keep your back straight and your shoulders back.
  • Stand up straight as you bring the weights to your shoulders in a quick jerk.
  • Once your body is upright, lower into a squat very quickly.
  • Catch the weights on your shoulders in the squat position.
  • From that squat position, stand up straight while holding the weights on or against your shoulders.

Common faults

  • Losing the flat back.
  • Hips don’t go low enough.
  • Knees bend inward.
  • Look at the ground.
  • Incorrect posture of the back and shoulders.
