How do you perform a Weighted Side Plank Hold?

  • Lie on your side with your forearm on the floor and a weight (eg dumbbell) in your hand.
  • Raise the weight vertically with your arm straight.
  • Lift your hips until your body is in a straight line from shoulders to feet.
  • Hold for as long as necessary.
  • Keep your abs tight and your back straight.

Common faults

  • Insufficient weight control when performing.
  • Poor alignment of the shoulders and elbows.
  • Insufficient trunk stabilization during execution.
