How to perform Chest Press?

  • Lie on a flat bench or the floor and hold a weight in each hand.
  • Hold the weights above your chest with your elbows straight and palms facing each other.
  • Lower the weights until your elbows are just below your shoulders (on a bench) or touch the floor.
  • While lowering, bring the elbows out.
  • Push the weights back up.
  • Inhale as you lower and exhale as you raise the weights.

Common faults

  • The elbows don’t drop low enough.
  • Too much weight so that the movement is not fully completed.
  • The arms do not rise vertically above the chest.
  • Elbows stay against the body.
